On Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 at 7:30pm, internationally acclaimed duo pianists Claire and Antoinette Cann will present a virtuoso program on two pianos, including three pieces by the late composer and Yamaha Artist Terry Winter Owens. The Cann Twins will present the world premiere of "Intimations of Celestial Events" for Trumpet and Piano and two of Owens' two piano works: "Ariadne's Crown" and "In the Fullness of Time." The program also includes works by Borodin, Ravel, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Lutoslawski and Strauss.
The identical twins Claire and Antoinette Cann studied at the Royal
College of Music,
London, where they studied with the legendary duo-pianist Phyllis
Sellick, and graduated with first class honors in both solo and
duo-piano, the only pianists to have ever done so. As postgraduates
they won the Queen Mother's Rosebowl and performed for the Queen and
Queen Mother at Windsor. Since then, the Cann Twins' career has taken
them to Europe, Canada, USA, New Zealand, the Middle East and
Japan. Their recording, have won many awards including Gramophone
Critic's Choice, Classic FM Critic's Choice and they have performed
concerti with many of the top orchestras such as Royal Philharmonic,
London Philharmonic and London Mozart Players and at the Royal Albert
